Kaitlin Bounds, a native of Russellville, Ark., will represent the United States as a long-distance runner at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games.
Diagnosed with autism at age 4, Kaitlin has always aspired to be a Paralympian. Her mother, Kathy Bounds, mentioned that achieving this goal has led to intensified training, described as tough and brutal, with only one rest day a week. Despite the fierce competition, Kaitlin remains determined.
Her former coach, Rick Correia, attributes her success to her relentless perseverance, viewing her autism as a 'superpower.' Kaitlin will be the first Arkansan to compete in the Paralympics track and field team.
The 2024 Summer Paralympic Games will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
Rock City Running congratulates Kaitlin on this incredible achievement and wishes her great success in Paris. We'll be following your journey and cheering you on!
